The Grants4Traits crowdsourcing initiative in agriculture offers financial and scientific support to develop your ideas for novel traits that help to achieve higher yield, quality and safety in crops.
Grants4Traits welcomes ideas that can lead to innovative traits in crops, which help to
increase yield under optimal growth conditions or abiotic stress conditions (including unfavorable climate conditions)
protect crops against insect and nematode damage
reduce fungal growth and symptoms
protect crops against commercial herbicides and reduce pressure from weeds
leverage novel technologies for trait development, i.e. approaches to optimize gene or protein expression, activity and regulation. Please see the Grants4Traits website for further information.
There are two types of grants selected by Bayer based on the maturity of the application:
Support Grants (€2,000-€10,000) for proposals that are at a very early stage of discovery
Focus Grants (€10,000-€50,000) for more advanced proposals to support promising research towards a fully validated crop improvement trait
Based on the data you submit in your application or generate while funded by Grants4Traits, Bayer may decide to offer you further support for your research:
access to Bayer’s expertise in crop science and its R&D technologies – for example, its gene expression profiling or plant transformation – to help you test your hypothesis. Please detail your interest in specific platforms in your submission.
extended collaboration opportunities to fully leverage the potential of your idea together with us.
